This year's RAF Leuchars Air Show — held annually and the final show of its kind in its current form — was an entertaining show with a wide selection of military types in attendance. RAF Leuchars will be handed over the the Army in 2014/2015, at which point the RAF will move most operations to RAF Lossiemouth. To signify this transition, the theme of this year's show was the station's official motto — "Attack and Protect" — marking the RAF's achievements at Leuchars as well as showcasing the RAF's past, present and future capabilities.
UPDATED The Paris Air Show — held every two years and this year celebrating its 50th anniversary — was a great success for both spectators and businesspeople, with many orders made, deals agreed and rare and advanced aircraft types in attendance. Types in attendance included the Airbus A380, Eurofighter Typhoon, Airbus A400M and some surprise Russian and Ukrainian visitors including the Antonov An-70, Sukhoi Su-35, Antonov An-158 and Kamov Ka-52.
Click here to see photos from the show, including all of the types listed here as well as surprises! After a long break, I have uploaded some new videos on YouTube. The newest videos are 'Drifting!', filmed at Knockhill Racing Circuit and featuring demonstrative drifting, and Aberdeen's Fireworks Display 2012. I will be uploading some new photos shortly, so check back here later if you want to know when they are available.
KLM recently flew a DC-3 to three Scottish airports in celebration of 65 years of KLM flying to Scotland. As part of this journey, the DC-3 flew from Edinburgh to Aberdeen on the 18th of August. I was there at Aberdeen to get some photos of this magnificent aircraft. You can see the photos on the KLM DC-3 gallery in the Photos section.
New photos from Aberdeen Dyce International Airport are now available in the main photos section, including an Azerbaijan Airlines A319! New photos from B.A (Country Stores) Vintage Working Weekend 2011 are also now available—the event had a great turnout again this year.
There is a new category in the images section; RAF Leuchars Air Show. As you may already know, the show took place on Saturday the 11th of September and the theme was the 70th anniversary of the Battle Of Britain. The show had a massive turnout, with visitor numbers expected to have been around 50,000 despite the traffic flow issues. The atmosphere at the show was great, and the weather stayed acceptable throughout the entire day. There were many varied aircraft types at the show, including both military and commercial aircraft - I have images of most of the major static displays, and some of the flying displays (including the Red Arrows and Harrier). Please feel free to contact me about these images if you have any comments, suggestions or feedback.
There are two new categories in the images section; 'Scottish nature and scenery' and 'B.A (Country Stores) Working Weekend'. The first will be constantly updated, and the second is an event which took place in Aberdeenshire recently. There are new categories coming soon, so 'watch this space'. Please feel free to contact me about these images if you have any comments, suggestions or feedback.
I have just released around 100 images of aircraft at Aberdeen Dyce International Airport; including both rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. The images can be viewed in the images section on this website. All of the images from this release were taken in mid-May 2010. Please feel free to contact me about these images if you have any comments, suggestions or feedback.
